Field Trip to Five Rivers!

Asher, (Caleb) and I took a field trip to Five Rivers to learn about the process of making maple syrup. We took a walk through the trees looking for maple leaves and going through the steps of how it's made. We tasted it along the way, right when it comes out of the tree, after it was evaporated a little and then again when it was completely done. We even saw turkeys!

Our baby is 2! He had a great birthday. Grandma and Great Grandma came over and we had a Penguins of Madagascar cake. He opened presents too. He got lots of fun stuff, including a Cabbage Patch Doll that he wanted (a baby with hair and a pacifier). He got a scooter from Mommy and Daddy as well.

Asher went on a field trip to the Albany Pine Bush Nature Preserve to learn about birds and such. We also went on a little walk. Then we came back in and made a bird feeder out of pine cones and bird seeds.

We are so proud of Tyler! She started middle school and has found her way around. She did amazing in her classes and made it on the honor roll! I got to attend a Honor Roll Breakfast. It was so great to be there with her.

Family Turkey Project

Jared brought home a project for Thanksgiving. It's a family turkey project. I call this the "Mom, I want you do help me be the most creative kid in the class." project. Jared wanted his turkey to wear clothes. And God forbid we just color clothes onto the turkey. No, we must take some of his brother's old clothes and cut them up and hot glue them on. We means me though. I had to make a template for all the darn feather parts plus the shirt and pants. Jared did color the other parts of the turkey and glue with me. All in all, it was very cute and I loved his idea and it was surely out of the box. The end product was exactly what he wanted.

My friend Julie is expecting her first grandchild. She asked me to make the cakes for the baby shower for Brittany and Alex. The invitations had these cute pink buttons on them and I was told that the mom was planning on pink and brown for the nursery. I made four cakes and each had a different flavor combo. They were yummy!

Jared's 7th Birthday Party

Jared and his family and friends partied hard at Afrim's for his birthday party! He had such an amazing time with everyone. They bounced in the bounce houses, played freeze tag, dodgeball and soccer on the fields. Then they ate, had hamburger cakes and then bounced some more. Saturday Project!

On Friday night, we found these two pieces in front of a little civic theatre on the way home. Jeremy didn't want pick them up but they were in great condition and we wanted to get Jared a desk and we needed a little table for our dining room because that is where we are putting the fax machine that currently resides in the office/playroom that we'd like to convert into a complete playroom. So Saturday morning, Jared and Jeremy went to Lowe's and got the paint and sandpaper and a bunch of other stuff. The three of us painted the pieces and handles. Jeremy went and got a spare chair from his grandmother's house and painted that as well. I think they look great!

GEESE! We were driving home tonight with the boys (Tyler was at a birthday party) and we saw a huge flock of geese on the lawn of a nursing home. We stopped and let the boys out. The geese didn't fly away but they knew to move swiftly away, ha ha. So they didn't catch one but they had a good time!

4 Teeth Pulled

This morning Jared had 4 teeth pulled. What a trooper he is. It hurt and he cried some, mainly because he couldn't self soothe but sucking his finger (right away). Jared has to have them pulled because his permanent teeth were coming down and that would cause horrible pain and the baby teeth would not come loose. They are stubborn, just like the child they inhabit, so shocking, right?

North Greenbush Town Beach

This afternoon we went to North Greenbush Town Beach with one of our playgroups. This was Asher's first time at a beach and he really enjoyed it after the initial shock of sand. Tyler and Jared tried to catch minnows. Jared practiced his swimming. Asher had no fears and would go to chest level and dunk himself without any help or care if I wasn't right next to him. Tyler really loved the minnows and kept an eye out for them and tried to show Asher but he didn't get the concept.

Today we went to our friend's daughter's birthday party. Yes, another party! Despite the rain, the kids went swimming. Asher started off by jumping in the baby pool fully clothed without a care in the world. Jared would only go in the baby pool because the above ground was four feet, he's a strange child. Tyler went in but was very timid about it all. At least she looked gorgeous doing it! She loves that swimsuit. It's so girly and fun and her brothers don't have a coordinating version, hehe. Next weekend we are party free but we have another busy but filled with fun week.

Happy August everyone! We started it off with a fun filled day. First we went to a party at Jeeper's for our friend's daughter. Asher went on his first ride and as you can see, he was a little scared but didn't scream or want to get out. Then we went to Jeremy's dealership and the kids played in the field with their cousin Jahlon. Now we're home and tired!

The kids had a great time this year and it's always nice to see our friends there. The kids loved the trampoline. Well, Tyler loved it until Jared zipped her in and locked it. It was sort of funny though! Asher had fun trying to play baseball and football with the older kids too.

The kids had SO MUCH FUN today at this. It was $5 per family. They had a bunch of area vendors that were doing displays. The older kids did the obstacle course and then we headed over to the laser tag area. Upstairs was the bounce house and the face painters and such.
